Preparation
- Wash and dry your hair: Make sure your hair is clean and 80% dry before using the multi-styler. This prevents heat damage. If your hair is too wet, it won't hold the curl. Too dry? It won't style properly.
- Use a heat protectant: Apply a heat protectant spray or serum to protect your hair from heat.
- Choose the right attachments: Check which attachments you need for the look you want (e.g. curls, waves, straight hair).
- Brush and distribute: Comb your hair thoroughly and divide it into sections for even styling.
Styling
- Choose the right temperature: Thin and damaged hair needs a lower temperature, while thick and coarse hair responds better to a higher temperature.
- Work in sections: Style your hair in small sections for long-lasting results and a more even look.
- For curls: Move the curling attachment towards a section of hair, let the multi-styler run its course, and hold for a few seconds before releasing. Note: The Ted Hilley multi-styler curls and coils automatically, so you don't need to twist.
- For straight hair: Move the round brush slowly and evenly from roots to ends without staying in one spot for too long.
- For maximum volume: Move the oval brush slowly and evenly from roots to ends. Place the brush close to the roots and pull upwards while blow-drying for extra lift. Tip: Rotate the brush outward or inward for an extra bouncy effect.
- Use cold air: To set your look.
- Finish with styling products: Use hairspray or a light oil to set your hairstyle and add shine.
